چکیده

Methods Data from patients admitted to the ICU with SAH between January 2006 and December 2014 were retrospectively collected. We analyzed epidemiological variables, past history, severity scale scores (Glasgow Coma Scale at admission, Hunt-Hess, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies Scale, Fisher and APACHE II), diagnostic methods, therapeutic management, complications, functional status at discharge and mortality. T test was used to compare means and logistic regression for assessing predictors. Data was analyzed with SPSS v19.

The outcome after aneurysmal sub arachnoid hemorrhage: a study of various factors

BACKGROUND Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (A-SAH), despite improvement in surgical and medical treatments, is still a serious disease with high fatality and morbidity rates. Despite the huge advances in neurosurgical management of the disease, there has not been a proportional improvement in outcome of this condition. PURPOSE We studied various factors which can influence the final outcom...

Non-aneurysmal non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage: patient characteristics, clinical outcome and prognostic factors based on a single-center experience in 125 patients

BACKGROUND Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is mainly caused by ruptured cerebral aneurysms but in up to 15% of patients with SAH no bleeding source could be identified. Our objective was to analyze patient characteristics, clinical outcome and prognostic factors in patients suffering from non-aneurysmal SAH. METHODS From 1999 to 2009, data of 125 patients with non-aneurysmal SAH were prospectiv...

Risk factors for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II (HIT II) correlates with a higher incidence of thromboembolic complications and unfavorable outcome. OBJECTIVE To examine the risk factors and outcomes for patients with HIT II with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. METHODS Demographics, risk factors, treatments, and outcomes data of 600 aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients admitt...

Take care when taking care of fever after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage

Fever is prevalent in the majority of patients after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and is associated with worse outcome. Treatment of fever is highly recommended, but with low-grade evidence in current guidelines. The analysis by Schiefecker and colleagues reveals that the situation may be more complicated than at first glance and careless treatment may introduce further harm. The importan...

The Met allele of the BDNF Val66Met polymorphism predicts poor outcome among survivors of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) plays a role in neuronal survival, plasticity and neurogenesis. The BDNF gene contains a common Val66Met polymorphism; the Met allele is associated with lower depolarization-induced BDNF release and differences in memory functions and brain morphology. We hypothesized that the Met allele is associated with poor recovery from subara...
